Hello, my daughter is 14 years old and is disabled. She is also deaf.
We live in the Ghazni Province in Afghanistan. I brought my daughter
to the wheelchair distribution in a wheelbarrow because she is to
heavy for me to carry and my husband works all day. We are very poor
and my husband is the only source of income for the family. We never
could have afforded a brand new wheelchair. My husband works all day
and the daily wages are barely enough to feed our five children.
I'm so happy by receiving a wheelchair for my daughter. My daughter
will now be able to fulfill her needs inside the house by herself by
using this wheelchair. This will give relaxation to her father too
because he will not be worried about his daughter while he is outside
working to earn a livelihood for the family. I don't know what else
to say but thank you.

Hello, my name is Nevish Ventura Antonio and I live in the province
Kwanza Sul in Angola in a leper colony. In 1996 my father passed away
and my mother passed away shortly after. I have leprosy and in 2000 I
lost my mobility because of it. I wanted to thank you for my wheelchair.
I suffered a lot when I didn't have the wheelchair and I couldn't walk
because my legs are not well enough to move. Now the wheelchair helps
me a lot. Now with the wheelchair I can go to the river to take a shower
I can go to the kitchen to pick up food and I can go and visit my neighbors.
I feel much better now and the wheelchair has really helped me a lot.
I feel that it is helping me survive. Thank you again for giving me
this brand new wheelchair.

I am so honored and excited to be here. On behalf of all the people who
have received a wheelchair from the Wheelchair Foundation, we offer our
sincere thanks to you and your Foundation team and to all the friends who
have offered your warm hands to us - Thank you!
We are a special group of people in society. Disasters and diseases have deprived us of walking. We cannot walk nor live as normal people do. Our physical disabilities bring us unimaginable difficulties in daily life, as well as great mental pain. But deep in our hearts, we are longing to live life as healthy and sound human beings! We dream that some day, we can walk, we can move ourselves to go outdoors, to have a look at the beauty of nature; at our beautiful city; to witness the magnificent progress our country is making; and to say hello to the fast-changing world.... Today our dreams are coming 1! Thank you so much for bringing us the ability to realize our dreams, to achieve our mobility with the help of a wheelchair. This is such a wonderful experience for us, especially for those who have never walked or moved by themselves since the day they were born! We feel the warmth and strength offered by a pair of warm hands from across the ocean, we feel the love and friendship coming from a worldwide family. We are so thankful and full of confidence! As disabled people, we can only hope to grow stronger, to break through the difficulties of life, and try to greet every day with a smiling face! Thank you and the Wheelchair Foundation, you are messengers of worldwide love and friendship! |

"Although I'm disabled I've learned to speak English through self-study
by watching television and listening to the radio for over 10 years.
I've suffered from the affects of polio since birth. Now with this
wheelchair I can go to the bookstore, market and any place I like.
I can study at school or take some training course that I've always
dreamed of. I cannot thank you enough. You know what we need most,
so you gave us legs in the form of a wheelchair. I adore you very much.
Now we can all study, live, work, make friends and contribute ourselves
to our country, which are the five major parts in our lives. A disabled
person + a wheelchair = a healthy person."
